Mapping Resources Pennsylvania Map-Maker Utility (Web Link) This is an online map creation tool that generates maps of Pennsylvania showing all the Counties with color-coded schema. The user is able to designate up to six categories and assign a color-code to each. Then, the user may specify which Counties will be assigned to which colors. These maps can be printed or saved as an image file and pasted into Word documents, Power-Points, or websites. The image files are in GIF format. Map Images of PA Counties (Image Files) This link brings a table of Pennsylvania County maps. There are two types of maps for each County: (1) County maps with municipal subdivisions -- townships, boroughs, cities, and (2) County maps with School Districts overlaid on County and subdivision boundaries. These map images can be downloaded, printed, or saved as image files and pasted into Word documents, Power-Points, or websites. Pennsylvania Poverty and Educational Attainment Maps (Web Link) This site is provided by Families In Pennsylvania (FIPA), a division of Penn State, and contains a gallery of maps by School Districts in PA showing various indicators of education attainment, income, family types, and demography. The map images may be copied and pasted into Word documents, PowerPoints, or WEb Sites. Thematic Maps (data) - American FactFinder This site, provided by US Census Bureau, allows the user to generate color-coded maps at various geopolitical levels (counties, school districts, metro areas, census tracts) and makes available an extensive roster of data sets. Best results can be obtained by using the tutorials to learn about customizing the features of the mapping software. Map images and keys can be printed, downloaded, or copied.
